This Week I did…

I really wanted to cut my hair into a short bob thinking that will help it grow and then I smacked myself and cut my wig into a wavy bob instead. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it.

Currently I do not have my digital camera. I bought a really nice point and shoot camera but I always have to charge it up! I guess I will have to settle for my cell phone for now.

I put a relaxer in two days ago. My hair has been shedding a lot. It has been breaking off in the back too. Really short. But I refuse to cut it. I did cut my hair a little after my relaxer but nothing like what I normally do.

Today I am sitting here with a plastic cap because I am doing a prepoo. I will cowash my hair tomorrow. I’m going to go back dark brown again too. I hate having my roots show and in the back, I hardly have any color showing through..so it looks odd to me.

I also bought a few wigs yesterday so I can put my hair up and just really don’t touch it for the next 2 months.

I know…I look like Martins mother!

I like it better from the side view.

Here is another wig I bought. This one looks so good in person. Looks sort of like how I wore my hair back in 2011

I guess that is the only update I have for hair. I really hope to grow my hair out this next year. November 2016, I want to have past my shoulders at least. But I need to stay consistent and show what I am doing. I am learning that I do not succeed much unless I am documenting or journal what I am doing.

Time to Put the Wig Away

Since I bought my wigs, I got real lazy with my hair again.  I found myself yesterday thinking about cutting it into a short bob.  Then I smacked myself and put the scissors away.  My goal is to allow my hair to GROW this year.  As a result, I put a relaxer in and then used a blow dryer a great friend sent me for Christmas! I curled my hair and for the night, used satin rollers to set my hair over night.  I have no idea how my hair will turn out because I just did my 21 minute workout and this DVD is crazy.  I sweat like I’ve never sweated before during a workout.

Well, this is where I am right now.  I will admit, I trimmed some of my hair to even it out just a touch.  I honestly did not cut an inch off this time.  Just a little snippet of hair.

As the picture shows, my hair grows uneven.  I don’t know if it is the bob I had from late 2013 through 2014 or if this is just how my hair grows at this length.  My hair hasn’t been above shoulder length since the late 90s.  Back then I didn’t care for my hair at all, I just did it and went to work.  So maybe my hair grows out this way.  Either way it makes me annoyed so I trimmed it a little.  It is still uneven after the trim but not as much.

I wanted to try a new conditioner until I find one that I really like.  I LOVED the coconut water conditioner I used last month.  I am thinking this will be a great product too.

I ran out of oils for my hair and really need to create more.  My next post will be the products I used in the oil that I believe made my hair grow so quickly in November.

Baking Soda Shampoo

This is another first for me and I loved it!  I found a few articles for shampoo free hair care and stumbled across a few talking about baking soda and water.  Some had baking soda and apple cider vinegar.  I went to a store to get some hair products and the young lady (she is a health and wellness coach–isn’t God good??!!! Yes.  Check out her twitter page) helping me told me to try ACV as a shampoo.  I want to try this out soon.

For today, I figured I’d do the baking soda since the blog had the steps and how much to create.  I was so nervous because when I think about baking soda, I don’t think about it be gentle for my hair. I don’t know why I wouldn’t since it is gentle enough for me to use as toothpaste so why not shampoo for my hair?

Therefore, I used 8 oz filtered cool water and 1 tbsp of baking soda.  Bending over in the shower, I simply poured a little at a time and massaged my scalp and worked it into my hair.  The 8 oz water was enough to saturate my entire head at my neck length. Perhaps in the future I may need more?

And after I rinsed out all of the baking soda shampoo, I then followed up with cowashing.

This is my second time using this conditioner.  I like it a lot.  When I got out of the shower, my hair felt like butter, silk, satin….whatever one you want to choose but it felt GREAT!!!  The blog I found said not to do this all the time.  I think this is something I can do every 6 to 8 weeks for sure!

Here is the original blog I found the article from!!!  I just didn’t do the acv rinse after.  Maybe next time I will be prepared.  One thing I can say is my scalp feels so good.  It’s not itchy or anything.  This was the BEST treatment I ever found!

Green House Effect (GHE) Morning After

First of all, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

thanksgiving

This is the FIRST TIME i ever tried the Green House Effect (GHE).  Since I didn’t have to go to work this morning, I didn’t braid my hair in any particular style.  Next time I will do a braid out instead because my hair has definition and I’m stunned!!!

My hair was slightly damp still or I should just say moist for having the shower cap on over night.

I could have worn this as a style had I placed a few braids in the back.  Not bad for the first time! Now it is time for me to do my hair for the holiday.

I’m still not sure which to do. They are all such beautiful women rocking beautiful hair! I have no idea which I can do for my neck length hair.  I would normally wear the halo style out when visiting family. Something simple but today I am going to a special thanksgiving dinner and thinking I need to look my best or try to at least.  LOL, we will see.  I’m not much of a fashion person.

Pre-Poo or Green House Effect?

Since I plan to wash and roller set my hair for Thanksgiving, I found a few youtube videos on the Green House Effect (GHE).  I never heard of this before.  It is suppose to help moisturize our hair which promotes healthy hair.  According to the video I found, you have to be careful not to over moisturize.  Listen to your own hair is the answer.

I will try just about anything when it comes to my hair.  It’s all natural and cannot be any worse than the relaxers I stick on my head every 6 months.  So why not?

Here is what I did!

I used Jamaican black castor oil only and spritz my hair with water just to moisten it.  Then I massaged my scalp, combed through with a thick come and put the hair coverings on.

This is my first time doing this.  I imagine it being like a hot oil treatment over night.  I believe I can really do this on a regular twice a week at least or even three times a week.  I’m thinking Friday for my cowash and style on Saturday; Sunday for my cowash on Monday and again Wednesday…or maybe not.  Friday and Monday may work best.

How often do you pre-poo or use the green house effect method and have you noticed a difference in your hair?
